What exactly is PrivacyScan?
We're a privacy intelligence service that helps you discover what personal information about you is publicly available online. We scan data broker sites, people-search engines, and public records databases, then compile everything into a detailed Privacy Exposure Report with step-by-step removal instructions.
How is this different from other privacy services?
Many privacy services charge monthly subscriptions ($10-30/month) for ongoing monitoring and removal. We offer one-time reports at a fraction of the cost. You get the intelligence you need to take action yourself, without committing to recurring payments. Think of us as the DIY option—we give you the tools and information; you do the removals.
Do you remove my information for me?
Not currently. Our reports give you everything you need to do removals yourself: direct opt-out links, step-by-step instructions, and template letters. Most people find the process straightforward once they know where to look. We're considering a full-service removal option for the future—contact us if you'd like to be notified.
How do you find my information?
We use a combination of automated scanning tools and manual research techniques to search data broker sites, people-search engines, and public records aggregators. We search using the information you provide (name, addresses, phone numbers, etc.) and compile everything we find into your report.

What information do you need from me to create a report?
The more information you provide, the more thorough your report will be. At minimum, we need your full name and one form of contact info (phone or email). For the most comprehensive report, provide: full name, any previous names or aliases, current and past addresses (last 10 years), phone numbers, email addresses, and optionally your date of birth.
How long does it take to get my report?
Most Basic and Detailed reports are delivered within 24-48 hours. Premium reports with video walkthroughs may take up to 72 hours. You'll receive an email notification when your report is ready, with a secure download link.
What's included in each report tier?
Basic ($19): 50+ site scan, privacy score, site list, basic removal instructions. Detailed ($39): Everything in Basic plus 200+ site scan, Google search analysis, social media audit, risk assessment, direct opt-out links, and prioritized action plan. Premium ($79): Everything in Detailed plus image search, dark web check, video walkthrough, template letters, and 30-day email support.
In what format is the report delivered?
Reports are delivered as PDF files via secure download link sent to your email. Premium reports also include a video walkthrough (MP4 or streaming link). All report links expire after 30 days for security, so download your report promptly.
Can I get a report for someone else (family member, etc.)?
No. Our reports are intended for personal use only—you must be requesting information about yourself. This protects privacy and ensures compliance with various regulations. If a family member needs a report, they should purchase their own.
🗑️Removals
How long does it take to remove my information from these sites?
It varies widely by site. Some process opt-out requests within 24-48 hours. Others take 2-4 weeks. A few stubborn ones can take 45-60 days. Our reports indicate estimated processing times for each site when known.
Will my information stay removed permanently?
Unfortunately, not always. Data brokers continuously collect new information from public records, marketing databases, and other sources. Your information may reappear after several months or years. This is why some people choose to run new reports annually or use ongoing monitoring services.
What if a site doesn't honor my removal request?
Most legitimate data brokers will honor opt-out requests, but some are more difficult than others. If you're having trouble, try: (1) waiting the full stated processing time, (2) submitting the request again, (3) contacting them directly via email or certified letter, (4) for California residents, citing your CCPA rights. Our Premium reports include template letters for difficult cases.
Do I need to remove my information from every site individually?
Yes, unfortunately. There's no single 'master opt-out' that covers all data brokers. Each site has its own process. The good news: our reports organize sites by priority (highest-risk first) and many sites share similar processes, so it gets faster as you go.

Is this a subscription?
No. Our reports are one-time purchases. You pay once, receive your report, and that's it. No recurring charges, no auto-renewals, no surprise fees. If you want another report later (say, to check if your removals worked), you can purchase a new one.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) and debit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe. We do not currently accept PayPal, cryptocurrency, or bank transfers.
What's your refund policy?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied with your report for any reason, email refunds@privacyscan.io within 30 days of delivery with your order number. No questions asked. Refunds are processed within 5-10 business days.
Is my payment information secure?
Absolutely. We never see or store your credit card details. All payments are processed through Stripe, an industry-leading payment processor that's PCI-DSS compliant. Your card information goes directly to Stripe's secure servers.

Isn't it ironic to give you my personal info for a privacy report?
We get it—and we take that responsibility seriously. Here's the difference: we need your info to search for it (can't find your records without knowing your name), but we delete everything within 7 days of report delivery. We never sell data, never share it with marketers, and our entire business depends on protecting your privacy.
What do you do with my information after creating the report?
All personal information submitted for your report is deleted within 7 days of delivery. We retain only basic transaction records (order number, email, amount) as required for accounting and refund processing. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
Could your service make my privacy worse?
No. We don't add your information anywhere—we only read what's already publicly available. We're searching the same sites that anyone else could search; we just do it systematically and give you the results in an organized format with action steps.
Are you a Consumer Reporting Agency?
No. We are explicitly NOT a Consumer Reporting Agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Our reports cannot be used for employment screening, tenant screening, credit decisions, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose. They're for personal awareness only.
